Midnight Mass

F. Paul Wilson, author of the popular Adversary and Repairman Jack series has written a what-if horror story to keep you awake at night. Vampires are real, their undead plague has overrun Europe and is invading America. In a small New Jersey coastal town an unlikely team gathers around a disgraced priest - a crucifix-wearing rabbi, a bomb-making nun, and a lesbian atheist – to battle against the vampires and their willing human thralls in a roller-coaster ride of violent action and suspenseful terror. -- GAK @ HH

The Dragon

Alfred Coppel's The Dragon is a political-action thriller set in the Cold War, when a clique of top Soviet military leaders conspire against their ailing premier and plan a preemptive strike against Red China timed to coincide with a visit to Moscow by the President of the US. Lasers, nukes, rogue IRA provo assassins, and more all figure into the action, as does one of my favorite characters, grizzled Red Army veteran Marshal Pavel Lyudin. By the author of both Thirty-Four East and The Burning Mountain. -- GAK @ HH
