Her claustrophobic world starts to slowly expand as she develops relationships with two women in transitional states, Della Lee and Chloe. Fans of Allen’s first novel, Garden Secrets, will also enjoy The Sugar Queen. Many of the same elements are present—strong female friendships, benign magic, and new love.
