Their lives are upended when, suddenly and simultaneously, their daughter announces she will marry and Caroline’s newly-separated sister comes to stay with them. I picked up Step-Ball-Change while I was on vacation, and it was the perfect choice for a long bus ride--the characters are endearing, the writing snappy, and the conflicts and dramas engaging but not earth-shattering. --Katy S.
