The Sex Lives of Cannibals: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific

J. Maarten Troost has written a laugh-out-loud chronicle of what it's really like to live in an island paradise. Troost and his wife moved from the United States to the Pacific atoll nation of Kiribati (pronounced KEER-ee-boss) and lived there for two years. It's a place where arriving airplanes have to dodge pigs on the runway, the neighbors describe his dog as 'tasty,' and beer is only sporadically available. Troost captures the day-to-day wonderment of living somewhere completely alien in this comic masterpiece. -- János.
