Laura M. Flynn's poetic and readable memoir of a troubled childhood is somewhat evocative of The Glass Castle, although not nearly as wild and crazy. Flynn is able to recapture the magic of her childhood days without glossing over the heartache of her parents' divorce and her mother's mental illness. This book was a 2009 Minnesota Book Award finalist in the memoir and creative nonfiction category.--Barb P.
