The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl

Shauna Reid began blogging right at the start of her weight loss journey. This book grew out of that blog, which is still active. Shauna realized she needed to take action when she was hanging laundry on the line and compared the size of her size 24“knickers” with her sister’s, which were a third that size. But this book is about more than Shauna’s losing half her body weight—it is a coming of age story. Shauna describes growing up in Australia in a somewhat dysfunctional family. When she was in her early 20s, she moved with her sister to Scotland for a year. (Apparently, Australian young people go abroad for long periods of time on a regular basis.) This book is seriously funny—Shauna has a wonderful sense of humor and lots of writing talent. You will find yourself cheering Shauna on as she triumphs over obesity and depression and makes a success of her life.--Barb P.
